[Video] Robin's gone home

[Smoker is practically in the dark, just cigars lighting up his face and nothing else. Ooohh spooky.]

For those that knew her, the Demon Woman of Ohara, better known as Nico Robin the pirate, has gone home. Her pokemon can go to whoever wants them I guess. [See also.]

She was very fond of morbid things, archaeology and history, and books. So I thought it'd be a fitting tribute to share ghost stories. Especially given this place and this time of year. So anyone got any good ones?

[Waves to them both.] Terror Watcher. I forget if you can change his name now.

Like I said, she was into some kind of morbid things.

[Apollo's confusion at Robin's choice of a name is obvious, but he carries on regardless.]

If she gave him a name I don't think I should give him a different one.

If you want... but it doesn't really suit him. He was pretty chipper as I remember.

[He doesn't know what "chipper" means.]

He's definitely energetic.

[Terror Watcher finally notices that the Gear is on and gets all up in the camera. Hi Robin's friend! Apollo raises the Gear slightly so he can see it himself while Terror Watcher fills the bottom half of the screen.]

Do humans normally change the names they give to animals?

Yes... he's energetic.

[Smoker shrugs.] No. But they don't normally name them quite that ridiculously either.

[He shrugs back.]

I don't know about things like that. I've never named anyone.

You just leave your pokemon with the names they come with?

They all have scent-names already, so it doesn't seem like I should give them another name just because I can't say it out loud. If I have to talk about them out loud I just use what kind of Pokémon they are. I call the Growlithe that came to me when Lea left "Firaga", but that's because Lea named him that and he likes me using that name.

Understood. I named mine after things from home generally. I think they prefer it. It gives a better sense of individuality.

None of the Pokémon with me have said anything about it. I don't usually have to talk to them out loud, so I can call them by their scent-names when I'm talking to them in my head. It might be different for humans who can only talk out loud.

Yeah... probably that.

If you don't mind my asking, what species are you normally back in your world? My ex-girlfriend was a bird, so I'm curious. [Yup, there's no way to make that discussion explained in a way that is going to make it any less weird. Oh well.]

[There's a confused blink from Apollo at that but he carries on regardless. It helps that he thinks of animals as people too.]

But you mentally recognize everyone by scents.

[Stare.]

[What is this staring?]

I can recognize different kinds of animals by scent, but not different animals that are the same kind. When I talk to them in my head they use their scent-names for themselves and each other, so I can remember what each scent-name is like when I hear it and I can say it back, but I can't smell the different names with my nose.

[How does he explain how his telepathy works? He just does it without thinking about it.]

I'll take your word for it.

I guess I just rely on sounds more.
